Bar Beverages: what to prepare
List food and beverage activities carried out at the premises. Food licensing does not replace separate permissions that may apply to alcoholic beverages.
Application details
Keep the applicant identity, premises-address evidence and a list of food activities ready. Confirm the operating address, including unit number and PIN code, before starting the application.
After approval
Plan safe storage, clean preparation areas, staff hygiene and supplier traceability. Licensing is one part of ongoing food safety, alongside daily operating practices.

What should bar beverages check first?
Describe where food is prepared, stored, served or sold. A restaurant, home kitchen, canteen and grocery shop can have different application details even at similar turnover.
How do I choose the right FSSAI category?
Start with your annual turnover, food activity and operating premises. Check the current FoSCoS eligibility flow before filing, particularly for activities with additional conditions.
Is this the official FSSAI website?
No. FSSAI India is a private consultancy service. You can apply directly through the official FoSCoS portal at foscos.fssai.gov.in. The food safety authority decides applications.
Which documents should I prepare?
For registration, prepare a photograph, government-issued photo identity proof and business-address proof where it differs from the identity document. Licensing documents depend on the food activity; check the FoSCoS checklist.
Are government fees included in the consultancy fee?
Ask for a written quotation that separates government charges from professional assistance and any other applicable charges before proceeding.
Is approval guaranteed?
No. Approval and processing time depend on the authority, application completeness and any queries or inspections. A consultancy cannot guarantee approval.
Do I still need to renew my licence?
The March 2026 FSSAI FAQs explain perpetual validity unless a licence or registration is suspended, cancelled or surrendered. Existing businesses should check their FoSCoS record and current transition instructions; continuing compliance obligations still apply.
Who needs FSSAI registration or a food licence?
Most food business operators involved in manufacturing, processing, storage, distribution, transport, retail, catering or sale of food need the applicable FSSAI registration or licence. The exact category depends on the activity, scale and premises.
What is the difference between Basic, State and Central FSSAI?
The route depends on the current eligibility rules, turnover band, activity and operating conditions. Use the FoSCoS eligibility flow and current FSSAI orders before filing.
Can a home kitchen or cloud kitchen need FSSAI?
Yes, a home-based or cloud-kitchen food business can require FSSAI registration or licensing. The correct route depends on its activity and applicable eligibility criteria.
Can I use one FSSAI licence for multiple premises?
Premises and business structure matter. Do not assume one approval covers every location. Check FoSCoS for the correct premises-wise requirement and any applicable head-office or branch provisions.
How long does the application process take?
Processing depends on the category, completeness of the application, authority review, queries and any inspection requirements. No private consultant can guarantee a fixed approval date.
What happens if the authority raises a query?
The applicant should respond through the prescribed channel with accurate clarification or supporting documents within the allowed time. Keep copies of submissions and acknowledgements.
Do manufacturers need extra documents?
Manufacturing and repacking applications may require additional premises, layout, machinery, product, water-testing or technical-person details depending on the selected activity.
Is FSSAI registration enough for every food business permission?
No. Other registrations or local permissions can apply depending on the business, premises and activity. FSSAI registration or licensing does not automatically replace them.
Can I apply directly without a consultant?
Yes. Consultancy is optional. Applicants can use the official FoSCoS portal directly.
